Workplace Dramas, Ensemble Casts, 1990s Style - Donald Bogle, pg 633-641

Recap: This article goes into the roles of African American characters in main line dramas of the 1990’s. It explains how the role of the black characters are used but not as the main character of the story. Very little in-depth history is given for each. Advancement has been done but over all the characters are mostly superficial.

Comment: I have watch a lot of the shows visited by this article. I really enjoyed Hill Street Blues when it aired and have also enjoyed N.Y.P.D. Blues as another police drama. ER is another of the shows that I watch with regular timing. It has been nice to see the black characters used but their history is somewhat limited. If we as a society can ever get past the racial tendencies, we might actually make out nicely.
