TV by Day - Gail Dines & Jean Humez, pg 463-467

Recap: This short article goes into the history of the daytime television and how it was developed from the radio and directed towards the predominate female audience. It goes on to explain about up and coming chapters that tie into this topic thread. Sections that we do not read for this blog.

Comment: Even though this article was brief it does give a nice history how the daytime was shaped by early radio thoughts towards advertising on the one-way radio. Men were thought to be off playing with their two-way radio and wouldn’t be interested in the regular radio broadcasts. Kind of interesting how it moved along from just the daytime soap operas to include the daytime talk show like Oprah Winfrey and Sally Jessy Raphael shows.
